Apr >> May
Writing to you from a feverish state, but saw Peige’s monthly reflection over on Pretend Typewriter and was inspired to look back on the month of April. Yes, I know it’s May 8.
+
- The first couple of months of my new job have been really good!
- I planted potatoes, beets, carrots, cilantro, and dill in my garden.
- My little tomato starters are thriving! :)
- Met with one of my Booksta buddies.
- The trees and bushes are leafing out <3
- I discovered estate sales and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people at them.
- We’ve been building out our dvd and Blu-ray collection and it’s going pretty well.
- I got my first record player!
- And I discovered Bear! :)
-
- Norovirus. Again. Getting norovirus twice in one month should be illegal.
- Now I have a cold. Being sick three times in the last two months has really taken its toll. I suppose that’s one of the risks with having small children in school.
Looking forward to:
- My son starts soccer this month and I’m excited to see if he likes it!
- Mother’s Day will be nice, a good reason to visit the bookstore and get myself a little treat.
- The end of the school year.
- Warmer weather.
- Bike rides and bonfires.

Goals:
CogFit challenge - Looking back on my Can You Reverse Brain Rot? post, I decided that I wanted to try to actually follow through on some of these ideas. Maybe you’d like to join me? I’ll be trying to track a few things to make a more regular habit.
- Pages Read: How many pages I read the previous day. My goal is 20-30.
- Words Written: this will include posting here, writing in blog guestbooks, responding to emails, writing in my journal, etc.
- Daily Walk: Did I walk outside, y/n? What sorts of things did I think about?
- Plug In My Phone: Did I plug my phone in, y/n? How was my phone screen time?
- Hard Skill: what am I learning about? How much progress did I make? Did I learn anything new?
Send me an email if you decide to try this out, I’d love to hear what you’re working on! And remember, it’s not about being perfect. Even getting 2-3 of these things per day is huge progress.
CogFit Challenge
Words Written: Not many. I’ve fallen ill again (shakes fist at daycare colds) and motivation is at an all-time low. Hopefully more this week.
Pages Read Yesterday: 76 pages, Shadows Of Self, Brandon Sanderson (66% finished)
Plug In My Phone: Screen time hovered around 3 hours yesterday, which stinks. Majority was in browser (likely Reddit) and my RSS reader. I did have it plugged in while I was working in the morning, but my overall time is still high.
Daily Walk: nope. Unless you count my walking up and down the stairs from my desk at work. I think I’m going to start taking a short walk around the block during lunch; if I schedule it and fit my schedule around it, it’ll be easier.
Hard Skill: In honor of my grandmother, I think I decided that I want to learn tatting. After she died, she left behind dozens of bins of tatting thread and supplies. She was always working on something and gifting small lace bookmarks and ornaments. It’s very intricate, tiny knot work and it would be fun to learn how to do it!
