Weeknotes 2026 // August 17-23
What’s Going On
It’s been a minute. I took a step away from my blog for a while because my brain latched itself to something else and I followed it for a bit. But I still like this blog and want to continue blogging, so here I am. Also lol at me dropping Weeknotes after a single week. That’s alright! Let’s do an update.
I tweaked some of the layout and removed some pages, simplified things a little. Feels good.
August has been nice. I celebrated my pre-schooler’s birthday, which was fun. Baked my first birthday cake. Planted some raspberry bushes. Pulled the potatoes from the garden. Visited our local fire station and saw some cool firetrucks with the kids. Saw KPOP Demon Hunters for the first time (I know, I know). Continued building up our blu-ray collection. Finally got my ADHD evaluation on the calendar for November. Got my car’s A/C fixed, finally. Son started the fall season of soccer. Took a camping trip to my favorite (it may even be described as superior) lake.
And now I’m wrapping up my August bullet journal and planning for September. I liked using the pocket notebook for a bit, but I miss the larger format. I’ll probably keep the pocket notebook capture method, and switch back to the larger notebook for planning. But it was a fun experiment.
Trying to get a few books off my desk, but every time I finish one, a new one comes in from the library. I should probably take advantage of pausing my holds more often...
I brought a paperback I’ve been meaning to read on my camping trip recently. It’s a copy of Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. I’ve always wanted to read it, and since my son is obsessed with the films I thought it would be fun to read the actual book. And so far it’s great!
Currently Curious About
- decluttering - Every six months or so (around the equinox), we do a whole house “spring clean” and “fall prune”. The fall prune is around the corner and I can feel it in my bones. I want to tackle my wardrobe and filing cabinet for sure. I have things in my closet that I either don’t wear because they’re worn out, or because I don’t like the way they fit. Why am I keeping them around? I don’t think I can go as far as a capsule wardrobe, but there are definitely a few things that can go.
- cabin-ing + landlining - I like the idea of no internet, no wifi - except that I work remotely. How can I implement segmented time away from the internet? Hour/day? A day on a weekend? “office hours”? I definitely need to reduce my phone usage, and ‘landlining’ would help with that (keeping my phone plugged in nearby, forcing me to go to it if I want to check something).
- the radio - I’ve been opting to listen to the radio vs my playlists more often. I actually really enjoy my local station, so I’ve been pulling it up on Apple Music and listening to that during the day. I really want a little physical radio to have on my desk while I’m working, but I’m trying to not spend extra money right now. This is good for the time being.
